This weekend marks the 100th birthday of Rice University, my alma mater. So, to celebrate, I dressed up in Rice's colors...and went to take pictures at Stanford. My husband won the location tug-of-war a year and a half ago, so I will be celebrating Rice from afar this weekend. Maybe I'll go back to Stanford, squint my eyes, and pretend like it's Rice? Nah, nothing could ever be a good substitute.
I can't tell you how profoundly Rice shaped who I am. I would not be the happy, confident, capable person I am today if it hadn't been for the people, ideas, and general attitudes of openness and acceptance at Rice. I love my family, and I love living with my husband here in San Francisco, but in many ways Rice will always be my true home. The happiness, heartbreak, laughter, learning, and above all, friendship, that I experienced there will be unrivaled in my life for a very long time.
Also, there are so many aspects of this outfit that I absolutely love, but seeing as I am maxing out my word limit gushing on about Rice, I'll leave some of my outfit discussion for another time. Don't worry, I'll be wearing this again.
Happy (Centennial) Friday!
