Dress Well: Mission Critical

Madewell shirt, Paige jeans, Zara heels, Thai bracelet via The Distillery - 1, Thai bracelet via The Distillery - 2, Unknown bracelet, Rebecca Minkoff purse, Ray-Ban sunglasses

This Madewell shirt has not gotten nearly enough wear (last seen here). Maybe it's because the last time I wore it coincided with a bit of a systems meltdown at work (long story) or maybe it's because I know as soon as I put it on I'll inevitably drop food on it (which, yes, definitely happened not long after these photos were taken), but for some reason, I always seem to pass over it when I'm getting dressed in the morning. Regardless, I've made it a personal goal to pluck this sucker out of my closet more often. As you can tell, I have really inspirational goals.

Yesterday was one of those days where everything seemed custom-designed to annoy me. Starting around 4PM, nothing went my way - from short tempers to battling with computer problems to driving in heavy rain, everything was a downer. I got home around 9PM and of course immediately started complaining to my husband about my lamentable day. And despite the fact that I was tired, and whining, and basically a total bummer to be around, my husband immediately went out and bought us red wine and chocolate ice cream to help me take the edge off.

While the ice cream and wine was nice (don't get me wrong) what actually took the edge off was being able to marvel at what an amazing husband I have. Seriously, I am steeped in good fortune. Today, I'm going to try my best to maintain a better attitude - I have no good reason to be anything but happy. I hope you feel the same way about your own situation.

Have a great day - see you back here tomorrow to close out the week!

Dress Well: Introducing The Distillery...

Thai Black Coral Bracelet and Bracelet with Black Beads (both via The Distillery c/o), Madewell shirt (old), Urban Outfitters cardigan (super old), Paige jeans (old), Madewell booties, Ray-Ban sunglasses, Unknown necklace, Rebecca Minkoff bag

Today I'm very excited to get to introduce you to two things. First up: my two wonderful handmade Thai bracelets. My friend Catelyn gave them to me when I was in Austin over the holidays, and I've been wearing them non-stop ever since. Which brings me to my second introduction: Catelyn's online shop, The Distillery, where you can buy these beautiful bracelets and many other one-of-a-kind items that are featured in their expertly-curated collection.

There's more to The Distillery than just awesome bracelets - they feature a wide selection of vintage and handmade items that they find locally or while traveling internationally, as well as art. Catelyn and her brother hand-pick each of the items listed on the site. I particularly love their colored glassware, such as this decanter - how amazing would it look on a bar cart?

And the good news just keeps on coming - starting today, if you follow The Distillery on Facebook or on Instagram (@thedistilleryaustin) you will be entered to win your choice between the bracelets I'm wearing here. Following them on both sites gets you two entries - what are you waiting for?

DSC_5977The entry period ends on Sunday, so go ahead and follow them right now! I'll announce the winners next Tuesday, so be sure to check back in on that day!

Your support means the world to both Catelyn and me - I'm extremely grateful to you all for welcoming The Distillery into the Name's Not Ashley family!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Live Well: Austin Weekend Recap

By any measure I had a great weekend: it started in the wonderful city of Austin, Texas and ended with me safe and sound in my bed in San Francisco. Here were some of the highlights:

Delicious Friday night family dinner at one of the best restaurants in Austin...or America.

...Followed by delicious Saturday morning breakfast tacos - it was a weekend of eating!

Wearing my new navy and white necklace to support my Rice Owls (who won the Armed Forces Bowl!).

Flying home to San Francisco early Sunday morning and opening my apartment door for the first time in 16 days.

Finishing out the weekend by finishing up a bottle of wine. I'm loving my new decanter!

As mundane as it can be, I'm really looking forward to getting back into my normal life routine...as soon as New Year's is past. Maybe that's the mark of becoming an adult. I hope you all had wonderful weekends - see you in 2013!

Dress Well: Cozy and Cold in Austin

J. Crew vest (similar), J. Crew shirt (old, love this one), Citizens of Humanity jeans, J. Crew necklace, J. Crew bracelet (sold out, love this one), J. Crew flats, Rebecca Minkoff bag

This post could also be entitled "The One in Which I Wear A Bunch Of Christmas Presents." Not quite as catchy. I got these shoes, this purse, this necklace, and the bracelet in the pictures all for Christmas. I'm spoiled rotten. Anyway, I layered it all on yesterday in order to brave a chilly day in Austin, Texas.

DSC_9299I hope everyone has some fun weekend plans lined up - I'm planning on enjoying my last weekend here in Texas by eating at some delicious restaurants and spending time with wonderful friends and family.

Until next week!
