Dress Well: On A Slant

Anthropologie blouse, Old sweater from Nordstrom, J Brand jeans, Chie Mihara wedges, Kendra Scott necklace, Clare Vivier clutch, Ray-Ban sunglasses

This is the first of a few items I snapped up two weekends ago when Anthropologie had a 15% off sale (the psychology of that sale TOTALLY worked on me - I'll admit it). No surprises that I love this shirt - it's a short-sleeved, silk, patterned shirt, which I seem to be collecting these days (see here, here, and here for further evidence). Predictable or not, it ended up being the perfect thing to wear to our Saturday night dinner at The Slanted Door (and I didn't get any food on it - a real accomplishment!).

Speaking of The Slanted Door - having my siblings in town this past weekend was absolutely fantastic. I haven't had a weekend that fun in a long, long time (and all of my weekends are fun!). I miss them like crazy already and can't wait for them to come back. The only good thing about them leaving, though, is it brings me one day closer to my sister and her fiancé coming to visit - they land in SF this Friday! So the good times will certainly continue.

If you're interested in the places we visited and what we ate while they were here, see the end of this post!

We kicked things off with a VERY long walk around town and a stop at Smitten ice cream.

Drove to China Beach, then hiked Land's End

Ice Cream at Bi-Rite Divisadero + walked to Alamo Square Park

Saturday morning CrossFit

Saturday brunch: Park Tavern (GET THE PANCAKES - that's an order)

Drove through the Marin Headlands and hiked out to the Point Bonita lighthouse, then drove to Sausalito and got ice cream at Lappert's

Have a great Monday, friends - Memorial Day is almost upon us!

Dress Well: Blue Friday

Target dress, Rag & Bone booties, J. Crew necklace (similar), Rebecca Minkoff bag, Coach sunglasses (old)

It's a happy coincidence that I happen to be posting about my favorite blue dress on the day that the startup I work for, shopkick, is celebrating Blue Friday. Blue Friday is a shopping extravaganza hosted four times a year for users of our app. I love my job and I love shopping, so I figured sporting my blue pride today was only appropriate.

Also - I'm completely depressed about how pale I look compared to the last time you saw me wear this dress.

Do you guys have fun plans for the weekend? I certainly do. My brother is in town and the party has already started - we went to a Giants game last night, are headed out for Indian food tonight, are going to be San Francisco tourists tomorrow and are going to cap off the trip with a return visit to Flour & Water, our favorite restaurant in the city. It doesn't get much better than that. Happy weekend!

Dress Well: Oldie but a Goodie

Citizens of Humanity jeans, Rag & Bone booties, Madewell necklace, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Cheap $10 sunglasses I got in Italy

My mom got me this shirt for my 18th birthday. I remember unwrapping it and being unsure on how I felt about it - something about the shimmery fabric threw me off. However, trying it on the first time cemented it in my wardrobe forever - to this day, I think it's the most flattering shirt I own. The cinching at the top of the ribcage continues to be my favorite cut in any kind of clothing. I believe that your clothes should be flattering to your figure above all, and in my eyes, this shirt knocks it out of the park in that regard. Something tells me I'll still have it in my closet seven years from now.

Dress Well: First In, First Out

J. Crew blouse (old), J.Crew vest (old), Madewell jeans, Steve Madden flats (old), Anthropologie necklace (old), Rebecca Minkoff bag

All I can think while looking at these pictures is, "oh my gosh, I can't WAIT to get a haircut." My long-awaited hair appointment is this weekend, so please excuse my scraggly locks in the meantime.

I've spoken of my deep-seated love for this J. Crew blouse before. I mean, I'm wearing this shirt in the picture in the sidebar on this blog, for goodness sake! This shirt is everywhere in my life, meaning that as soon as it comes back from the drycleaners, I immediately wear it again. I think my drycleaner is under the impression that I own one shirt...I can't blame her.

In completely random news, my husband and I just finished the first three seasons of Arrested Development. I know, I know - our nerd credentials are much diminished by the fact that it took us this long to become AR fans. Anyway, we're going to start the new Netflix season of the show tonight, and I'm so excited - how cool is it that we get to enjoy the old shows and the new shows in such quick succession? I love technology.

Have a great Tuesday!
