Dress Well: Country Strong

All Saints leather jacket, Madewell chambray shirt, J Brand jeans, J. Crew flats, Anthropologie bracelet (old), Clare Vivier clutch, Ray-Ban sunglasses

Aaaaaand...I'm back!

Sorry for the silence last week, friends. It was one of those weeks where writing blog posts was just not going to happen. Thanks for bearing with me.

Now - this outfit. It's one of those combinations that doesn't strike you as rodeo-ready at the outset but, as you analyze the pieces, you realize that it can only be put together by someone from Texas. I mean denim-on-denim + leather + a cowhide clutch? Texas, through and through.

I wore this outfit out to brunch with two of our best friends yesterday morning. The whole morning reminded me so strongly of when I first started this blog - back in the early days, my husband and I would regularly wake up early on Saturday and Sunday mornings, go take outfit photos while the light was best, and then wander over to one of several neighborhood brunch spots right as they opened. We've gotten away from that in the year and half that I've been doing this, so it was nice to re-create that experience for one morning, at least.

Also, one last thing to point out about this outfit - I got new jeans! I know, I know - weren't you bored to death of my Joe's jeans and my Paige ankle-zip jeans? I wore this new J Brand pair allllll weekend and can't wait to wear them many, many, many more times (you'll be tired of them soon, I'm sure).

Dress Well: Winter is Coming

J. Crew coat, Madewell chambray shirt, Citizens of Humanity jeans, Tory Burch boots (similar), Rebecca Minkoff bag

I know you're probably getting tired of me talking about it...but baby, it's cold outside. Thankfully, I have my new J. Crew cocoon coat to keep me warm - I picked up this little beauty recently when J. Crew had a 25% off sale, and man, was it a good purchase. This is the first winter coat I've ever purchased for myself - for the last ten years I've been wearing a J. Crew coat that my mom bought me in 2003. Talk about longevity! I have no doubt I'll have this one just as long.

DSC_2645How was everyone's weekend? Ours was fantastic. We had a great time spending time with friends this weekend. I never cease to marvel at how far our social life has come in two years - two years ago we had no friends in San Francisco. Honestly, if we had wanted to hang out with people on the weekend, we couldn't have done it. This weekend we had social engagements on Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday. Right after we moved here, a woman that I worked with told me that after two years, I'd be completely settled in and have a great group of friends. I didn't believe her at the time, but you know what? She was exactly right.

Also, we had a SUPER strange experience yesterday afternoon - right before we showed up at our friend's apartment for a little lunch get-together, a few policeman shot and seriously wounded an armed suspect right in front of my friend's apartment. Like, RIGHT in front. Our friends were able to see the policemen when they fired on the suspect. Thankfully, the man who was shot was just out of eyeshot for them. Isn't that crazy? We had to duck under caution tape that marked off the crime scene in order to get to my friend's front door. Completely crazy, especially in our idyllic, safe haven of a neighborhood.

Hopefully your weekend didn't involve any crime scenes - enjoy your Monday!

Dress Well: Summery Thoughts

Madewell shirt, Madewell jeans, Zara heels, J. Crew bracelet (old), Coach sunglasses (old)

If we can't have summery weather here in San Francisco, the best we can do is to think summery thoughts. This outfit is like the "summery thoughts" team uniform - with florals and/or neons covering every inch, I feel like it should be standard-issue wear for everyone's favorite season (oh wait, that's fall).

After back-to-back busy weekends and spending a week fighting to stay healthy (my husband has a bad cold) we are looking forward to doing exactly NOTHING this weekend. (I know, that's not the first time you've heard me say that.) We just started watching Scandal (I know! So late to the party!) so something tells me a fair portion of this weekend will be dedicated to polishing off a few more episodes. Other than that I'm hoping for at least one long walk around my favorite city and at least one good meal out...as always, you'll hear my report on Monday!

Have a great weekend.

Dress Well: Country Chic

Madewell shirt (in store only!), Anthropologie skirt (old), Madewell belt, Sam Edelman sandals, J. Crew bracelet, Tory Burch bag

I've made a terrible mistake.

I totally should have worn this outfit with my booties. Such a missed opportunity!

If I ever made a "Natalie's fiercest moments" mashup, the picture below would probably be what I led off with. Which lets you know just how (not) fierce I am:
