Dress Well: Sunday Dinners

Y'all - it was WARM this weekend. It was warm and sunny enough this past weekend to cause me to get sunburned in all kinds of weird patterns - on my wrists (???), on my shoulders, on the tip of my nose, on my knees. Being exposed to that kind of sun is so rare for us San Francisco dwellers that I almost feel like I spent the past two days on a beach vacation - I mean, there was no swimming, and no bathing suits, but....it was close enough.

DSC_5146There were multiple moments this past weekend where I stopped, looked around, and dedicated a few seconds to thinking, "does it GET any better than this?" The first time was when I was reading up on my roof on Saturday afternoon - the sun was shining, the temperature was perfect, and I had a beautiful panorama view of San Francisco. Seriously - what's better than that? The second time I had that same thought, I was running the Lyon Street steps, getting to the top, basking in the breezy 75 degree weather, and looking out over the San Francisco Bay.

When I wasn't admiring my surroundings, I was enjoying time, meals, and laughs with my husband or friends. It was truly a weekend for the record books - low-stress, high happiness, and gorgeous in every minute. How did I get so lucky?

Hopefully you had a similarly wonderful weekend. 'Til the next one...

Dress Well: Saturdays on the Town

Anthropologie blouse, Paige Denim jeans, Chie Mihara wedges (on sale!), J. Crew necklace (old), Rebecca Minkoff bag, Ray-Ban sunglasses

It's official: I think you guys have seen every piece of clothing that I own. These days, I look in my closet and find a complete lack of inspiration. And for that reason, you'll have to forgive me when my outfits seem very repetitive. I just can't afford new clothes every week, you know?

There's one other thing I have to admit to: I currently have a terrible yoga crops tan. Like I wore yoga crops to read on my rooftop deck, and ended up with a tan where it looks like I'm constantly wearing socks. I won't be baring my legs again until it evens back up...and that could take a few months. Awkward tan lines are kind of my forte.

DSC_4945Despite my lack of new clothes and my terrible yoga crops tan, we still had a fantastic weekend. We had friends in town from Texas and had the greatest time hanging out, getting dinner, and catching up with the people we love. Also, after MONTHS of anticipation, we finally got to go see Boyhood, which I will be writing more about tomorrow (spoiler alert: we LOVED it). All in all, we were reminded yet again that we lead a wonderful life. I hope you felt similarly this past weekend.

See you back here tomorrow. Have a great day.

Dress Well: Last Call

Madewell shirt, Paige Denim jeans, Chie Mihara wedges (on sale!), Anthropologie necklace (old), J. Crew bracelet, Anthropologie bag (old)

We dashed outside to get these photos right before the sun went down - we're still settling into our new schedule with my husband's new job. You can tell these photos were taken at the end of the day, not so much by the light, but primarily by my face. Somehow my makeup melted off in the ten hours I was at work - I used to have mascara on, I swear. And at least somewhat healthy-looking skin. And lips that didn't blend into my face. Note to self - makeup refresh needed for night photos.

DSC_4650The one defense I can offer for my walking dead look is the fact that it was a very productive Monday. I managed to cross a bunch of items off my list at work, and I felt great doing it because I LOVE this outfit (which is why you've seen a thousand iterations of it on the blog). Here's hoping the rest of the week follows suit.

Have a great Tuesday.

Dress Well: Three Year Flashback

Here's a fun piece of trivia - it's my wedding anniversary tomorrow! In honor of that, I thought it would be appropriate to wear an outfit that made its first ever appearance on my honeymoon three years ago.

I went on a major shopping spree at Anthropologie shortly before we got married and headed to Italy, and this shirt was one of my purchases, along with my old pair of white jeans. I still remember how much fun it was to plan out each of my honeymoon outfits, and how much I enjoyed pairing white and white together in this outfit (I think every bride-to-be develops a strange obsession with wearing white). As a result, this outfit will be forever associated with Florence in my mind. Which is really the best association to have, isn't it?

It didn't even occur to me until I was typing out this post that this outfit is doubly appropriate for a wedding flashback post because it's all white. Obvious answer is obvious. To everyone except me, apparently.
