Dress Well: On A Slant

Anthropologie blouse, Old sweater from Nordstrom, J Brand jeans, Chie Mihara wedges, Kendra Scott necklace, Clare Vivier clutch, Ray-Ban sunglasses

This is the first of a few items I snapped up two weekends ago when Anthropologie had a 15% off sale (the psychology of that sale TOTALLY worked on me - I'll admit it). No surprises that I love this shirt - it's a short-sleeved, silk, patterned shirt, which I seem to be collecting these days (see here, here, and here for further evidence). Predictable or not, it ended up being the perfect thing to wear to our Saturday night dinner at The Slanted Door (and I didn't get any food on it - a real accomplishment!).

Speaking of The Slanted Door - having my siblings in town this past weekend was absolutely fantastic. I haven't had a weekend that fun in a long, long time (and all of my weekends are fun!). I miss them like crazy already and can't wait for them to come back. The only good thing about them leaving, though, is it brings me one day closer to my sister and her fiancé coming to visit - they land in SF this Friday! So the good times will certainly continue.

If you're interested in the places we visited and what we ate while they were here, see the end of this post!

Have a great Monday, friends - Memorial Day is almost upon us!

Dress Well: Black Cuff

Madewell shirt, Paige Denim ankle zip jeans (old), Rag&Bone booties, Madewell necklace, Clare Vivier clutch, Ray-Ban sunglasses

Countdown to a haircut: two days. So necessary at this point.

I'll be honest - I wore this outfit when we went out to dinner on Friday night. On Monday mornings, I prefer to exhibit as little creativity as possible. When I can rely on past outfits AND wear something comfortable, I know I have a winner. There's nothing quite like floating through your Monday feeling like you're wearing a pajama shirt.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Dress Well: San Francisco Spring

All Saints leather jacket, J. Crew sweater, J Brand jeans, J. Crew flats (old), J. Crew necklace (old), Clare Vivier clutch

I have a confession to make: living in San Francisco has made me kind of hate Spring. Don't get me wrong: I like the idea of Spring. And I like San Francisco. But unfortunately, while the rest of the country is enjoying warming temperatures and blooming flowers, our weather remains the same as it always does: just cold enough to be wearing a jacket. So while everyone is is pulling out their sundresses and embracing pastels, I'm mourning the fact that it's awfully hard to look seasonally-appropriate when sweaters and leather still need to be a part of my wardrobe. For the next couple months, just pretend it's Fall when reading this blog, okay?

Did everyone have a good weekend? We certainly did. We continued to keep things low-key while eating out as frequently as possible. On Friday night we went over to our friends' house for dinner, where they cooked us an AMAZING meal (that was up to our Whole30 standards!). Saturday we bummed around town before heading to TBD for dinner - a restaurant that should change its name to "The Most Paleo-Friendly Place Ever." Seriously. If you like to stick to meat and vegetables, TBD will be your no-sugar-added jam.

Yesterday we went to Ella's for brunch (it was great!) and then spent some time at the mall (the spoils of which you will see later this week, I'm sure). We closed the weekend out the same way we did last week - watching Mad Men and making a recipe from Nom Nom Paleo. I never claimed to have an exciting life.

Speaking of exciting, I will be hopping on a plane yet again this week! But this time only for a quick day trip down the coast. After that, I don't have another trip planned until June - here's hoping it stays that way. Regardless, I'll be posting here regularly - have a great week!

Dress Well: Country Strong

All Saints leather jacket, Madewell chambray shirt, J Brand jeans, J. Crew flats, Anthropologie bracelet (old), Clare Vivier clutch, Ray-Ban sunglasses

Aaaaaand...I'm back!

Sorry for the silence last week, friends. It was one of those weeks where writing blog posts was just not going to happen. Thanks for bearing with me.

Now - this outfit. It's one of those combinations that doesn't strike you as rodeo-ready at the outset but, as you analyze the pieces, you realize that it can only be put together by someone from Texas. I mean denim-on-denim + leather + a cowhide clutch? Texas, through and through.

I wore this outfit out to brunch with two of our best friends yesterday morning. The whole morning reminded me so strongly of when I first started this blog - back in the early days, my husband and I would regularly wake up early on Saturday and Sunday mornings, go take outfit photos while the light was best, and then wander over to one of several neighborhood brunch spots right as they opened. We've gotten away from that in the year and half that I've been doing this, so it was nice to re-create that experience for one morning, at least.

Also, one last thing to point out about this outfit - I got new jeans! I know, I know - weren't you bored to death of my Joe's jeans and my Paige ankle-zip jeans? I wore this new J Brand pair allllll weekend and can't wait to wear them many, many, many more times (you'll be tired of them soon, I'm sure).
