Dress Well: Happy Veterans' Day

Ever since I bought these red jeans a year ago, me coming this close to dressing in red, white, and blue has become a weekly occurrence. Yesterday, in honor of Veterans' day, I decided to go with my patriotic instincts and finally put the three together. This was the result.

These are the most insanely comfortable heels EVER (and I usually despise heels). Chie Mihara is more than a designer - she's a scientist. Go check her stuff out if you're interested in giving your feet a break while maintaining those few extra inches.

As I write this, I'm struggling to come up with a way to express my appreciation for the veterans who have protected our wonderful country over the years in a way that doesn't sound trite or naive. So, I'm going to do what I usually do: refer to a book. If you haven't read Laura Hillenbrand's Unbroken, please buy it the next chance you get. The story of Louie Zamperini's survival is a staggering example of some of the horrific circumstances our servicemen and women have to contend with at war. In the end, you come away with a more nuanced appreciation for the tenacity of life than I would have thought possible to derive from a book. It really puts the difficulty of putting together a good outfit in the morning in perspective, doesn't it?

Dress Well: Crochet and Cozy

I bought this sweater one size up for extra comfiness. All I can say is: best clothing decision in a long time.

Can we talk about how great of a job my husband did at picking out my engagement ring? Love this beautiful rock, day in, day out.

Sweetest bracelet that my family gave me for my high school graduation. The top side of the charm has the birthstones of all seven of us, and the back says "Keep Us Close." It is one of my most special belongings, without a doubt.

It's been rainy and gray all week, and there's no better way to make it through that than to layer on a big, cozy sweater. This crochet number really rose to the occasion. Here's hoping that it's a much clearer weekend!
