I realized this week that I have never done a product post, so I thought it might be about time to share some of my favorites with you guys. I use all of these products every single day, so if you've ever wondered about my beauty routine, here's a little glimpse!
First, Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette. One of the eyeshadows in the palette, YDK, has been my go-to shade for all occasions for years. It's the perfect metallic-y, subtle, brownish-purple shade to wear to anything, from job interviews to weddings. When I saw that it came in a palette with all of its similarly-hued brothers and sisters, I knew I had to have it. My mother-in-law was so kind to get it for me as a Christmas gift, and now I have 10 perfect eyeshadows that work for any occasion!
I bought my Clarisonic Mia about a year ago when I was going through a really tough time with my skin. Reading rave review after rave review about it gave me hope that it could cure my persistent acne and made it easier to spend the $120 it took to make it mine. Unfortunately, it couldn't clear my skin - turns out that could only be accomplished with prescription drugs, but now that my dermatologist has returned my skin to a clear state I love my Mia. I really think it does clean deeper than just soap by itself or soap and a washcloth, which results in really smooth, glowing skin. I don't have a single friend who has gotten the Mia and been disappointed. And although the Mia is definitely pricey, it's crazy durable and will last forever - I've dropped it in the shower or into my sink numerous times and it's never skipped a beat. So if you're tempted to get one, think of it as an investment for the long-term health and appearance of your skin!
My Diorshow Waterproof Mascara. I LOVE this mascara. I've been using it since I was 17 years old or so and I will never switch. First, this mascara is so waterproof. I was putting eyedrops in my eyes at work yesterday and my mascara didn't run at all. I've never had it run because of crying either. Secondly, the big brush on the applicator makes your lashes look so long. I've been asked multiple times if I was wearing fake lashes when I had this stuff on. It's amazing.
And lastly, because you know I'm all about being beautiful both inside and out, one of the supplements that I never skip is calcium. It is essential to keeping your bones healthy, and you should take it every day, especially if you're a woman or have any degree of lactose intolerance (like me!). However, there are two rules you should follow when taking calcium supplements: 1) Always opt for a calcium supplement that has Vitamin D in it. Calcium is absorbed much better when in the presence of Vitamin D. Almost all calcium supplements sold have Vitamin D in them, so this shouldn't be a difficult rule to follow. 2) Only take 500-600mg at a time. Since my daily multivitamin has calcium in it, I take my multivitamin in the morning and my calcium supplement at night, which allows my body to absorb the full calcium amount recommended (~1,000mg per day).
