Dress Well: Velvet and Stripes, and Everything Nice

J. Crew coat, J. Crew blouse (love this version), Current/Elliot velvet jeans, Sam Edelman booties, J. Crew necklace (similar), TEXI leather bag, Coach sunglasses (old)

You know those outfits that just make you feel awesome? That's this outfit for me. I mean, what's not to love? As I've told you guys many times, this is my all-time favorite shirt. Add it to velvet jeans (yes you read that right - velvet) and you have an outfit made in heaven. These pants are one of the best purchases I have ever made - I got them 60% off in Nordstrom's after Christmas sale and have treasured them dearly ever since. Maybe it's dumb to be that attached to pants, but come on...they're velvet!

Dress Well: Bundled Up Love

J. Crew vest (very similar), Madewell sweater (old), J. Crew leggings, Tory Burch boots, J. Crew bracelet, J. Crew bangles, TEXI leather bag

One thing must be said about writing a blog where you end up looking at a bunch of pictures of yourself - you become acutely aware of when you need a haircut. All I can think as I'm sitting here, looking at these pictures is "yikes!" It's been three months since my last haircut and it couldn't be more obvious. Please excuse my split ends, general fuzzy hair texture, and overgrown roots...

In other news, it's still cold here! So my love affair with sweaters and puffer vests continues. It felt so wintry I even dug out my Tory Burch boots. I'm expecting a formal thank you note from my feet for sparing them from freezing to death in flats yesterday (which is my general strategy - growing up in Texas means you have NO IDEA how to dress warmly). It's been very chilly and gray all week, so I'm hoping to carve out some time this weekend to snuggle on my couch with some hot chocolate and a book. Snuggling is pretty much the official sport of the fall season, right?

Dress Well: Versatility

Madewell dress, J. Crew flats, Coach sunglasses (old)

My first thought after trying this dress on at Madewell a few weekends ago was "shoot." This is one of those dresses that after you try it on, you just can't leave without it - for every second I stared at it on myself in the mirror, I had yet another revelation about all the ways and all the places I could wear it.

I'm constantly on the hunt for long-sleeved dresses because it's always so chilly here, so that was a selling point in and of itself. I know this dress will look perfect with tights and booties when it cools off. I also can't wait to wear it with nude heels for a fancier look, and it works equally well with tan flats and bare legs to celebrate a warm day of Indian Summer. Madewell, if you make this dress in five more prints and colors I will buy them all. That's a promise.

Speaking of being fancy - tonight we're making a return trip to Rich Table for the first time since we ate there right after my final shopkick interview over five months ago. That dinner was one of the better meals I've ever had in San Francisco - I'll let you know if round two lives up to the hype when I come back on Thursday! Until then, have a wonderful day.

Dress Well: One-Track Mind

J. Crew blouse, J. Crew skirt, Rag & Bone booties, J. Crew necklace (old), Rebecca Minkoff bag, Coach sunglasses (old)

It's officially fall, so you know what that means - time to pull out all my cool-weather J. Crew items. Hello wool, calf hair, leather boots, and so much more. Honestly, about 75% of my closet is filled with fall and winter clothing, so I couldn't be happier to ring in the new season.

DSC_0521Short post today because I am off to Seattle this afternoon! I can't wait to continue to enjoy the new season with the beautiful (okay, likely rainy) weather up in the Pacific Northwest. I'm hoping our trip is filled with delicious dinners, beautiful sights, and lots of time spent in adorable bookstores (and important part of any trip, obviously).

Have a great Thursday!
