Dress Well: Easter West

Anthropologie sweater (old), Anthropologie dress (old), Madewell booties (old), Kendra Scott necklace, Anthropologie bag (old), Ray-Ban sunglasses

This is what Easter looks like over here on the West coast.

Thankfully, we were blessed with absolutely stunning weather on Easter Sunday. I'm pretty sure every girl in town pulled out her favorite Easter dress for the occasion - myself included. It's been months since it's been warm enough to wear a sundress out to brunch in San Francisco, so I enjoyed every minute I could in the warm weather.

Of course, San Francisco weather has a tendency to turn on you, so I brought my trusty Anthropologie sweater along, just in case. I've never worn this dress and sweater together before - in all honesty, I grabbed this sweater blindly out of my closet five seconds before running out the door, and yet I REALLY love how the two look together. I'll chalk it up to some Easter magic.

I'd like to give a very special shout-out to my wonderful husband in this post - before taking these pictures, I got to take a turn behind the camera, trying to take an updated headshot for him. What I learned is that taking these photos is WAY harder than it looks - I took literally hundreds of snaps of him just trying to get the lighting, the framing, and the angle just right - and I'm still not sure I succeeded. It's a true testament to him that my blog photos come out looking as nice as they do. Per the usual, all the wonderful things in my life are thanks to him!

Other highlights from the weekend - going back to CrossFit for the first time in over a month (resulting in me being so sore that it makes me nauseous every time I move - good times), sticking to our Whole30 diet while eating delicious meals at La Boulange, Bar Crudo, and Park Tavern, reading TONS more in The Goldfinch (almost done!), and closing the weekend out by cooking a delicious dinner and watching last night's Mad Men. So yeah, I'd say it was a pretty great weekend.

Have a wonderful Monday, everyone - see you back here tomorrow!

Dress Well: Summery Thoughts

Madewell shirt, Madewell jeans, Zara heels, J. Crew bracelet (old), Coach sunglasses (old)

If we can't have summery weather here in San Francisco, the best we can do is to think summery thoughts. This outfit is like the "summery thoughts" team uniform - with florals and/or neons covering every inch, I feel like it should be standard-issue wear for everyone's favorite season (oh wait, that's fall).

After back-to-back busy weekends and spending a week fighting to stay healthy (my husband has a bad cold) we are looking forward to doing exactly NOTHING this weekend. (I know, that's not the first time you've heard me say that.) We just started watching Scandal (I know! So late to the party!) so something tells me a fair portion of this weekend will be dedicated to polishing off a few more episodes. Other than that I'm hoping for at least one long walk around my favorite city and at least one good meal out...as always, you'll hear my report on Monday!

Have a great weekend.

Dress Well: Happy Fourth

Target dress, J. Crew necklace

New. Favorite. Dress. Love the color, love the twirly-ness, love that it was $25. I also love that it looks equally good on the beach as it does with my favorite pair of black booties. Basically, you haven't seen the end of this outfit.

In other news, happy Fourth of July! We'll be spending the day down on the beach, tanning, swimming, and grilling burgers. Does it get better than that? We might even round out the night by watching a Friday Night Lights episode or two...now that's how you celebrate America.

I make twirling look smooth...not.

Enjoy your holiday!

Dress Well: Denim on Denim Redux

Madewell top (in-store only), Joe's jeans (similar), Rebecca Minkoff sandals, Lulu Frost for J. Crew bracelet (old), Anthropologie headband (old), Tory Burch bag

The first time I wore denim on denim on this blog, I talked about how layering a sweater into the outfit made me feel more like a trendy girl, less like a cowboy. This time around, I realized printed denim was another great way to make denim on denim happen (without needing to bust out the cowboy boots, too). And let's talk about this particular piece of printed denim - I love it. I was drawn to this shirt like a moth into a porch light when I was in Madewell this past Saturday. If you had described this shirt to me in concept, there's no way I would have expected to like it (sleeveless button-ups are generally not my thing). However, as I've come to expect, Madewell produces a superior product. My wallet does not appreciate it.

One other note about this outfit - I've had this headband since I was in the 11th grade. I've probably worn it three times, total. I just don't have the kind of head or kind of hair that supports a headband, you know? But when I put on this outfit, it's like something in me was calling out for my headband. So I tried it out. And I liked it. I don't know, maybe the headband thing is so 2007, but between the sleeveless button up and the headband, I kind of liked throwing back to my elementary school days. Every kid had those two things in the 90s, you know?

Have a great day.
