Dress Well: To the Max

Old Navy dress (on sale!), Sam Edelman sandals, J. Crew bangle, Anthropologie bag (old)

Well, you've seen it before and you'll see it again - I'm finally jumping on a bandwagon that's at least a year old. One year ago I was saying NO WAY to anything and everything maxi. However, when I spotted this soft, striped, super inexpensive dress at Old Navy, I thought it was maybe time to dip a toe into the trend. Turns out I should have jumped in earlier - how great would this dress have been when we were on the beach back in January?

DSC_3863I apologize for my long hiatus this week! Work has been crazy, and I've just been generally slow to adjust back to a normal schedule following our trip to Cincinnati last weekend. Which, by the way, was amazing. I enjoyed every single second we spent celebrating our friends' beautiful wedding and wonderful (new!) marriage. I'm looking forward to celebrating many more happy unions over the next couple years.

Back at you tomorrow (hopefully). I mean, we just finished Orange is the New Black and Fargo, so do I really have an excuse?

Have a wonderful Thursday.

Dress Well: Prairie by the Bridge

Anthropologie dress (old), Rebecca Minkoff sandals, J. Crew bracelet, Rebecca Minkoff bag

When I was a child, I loved Little House on the Prairie (the books, obviously - you know I strive for maximum nerd-dom). While in general the whole prairie look doesn't really do it for me, something about this dress's whole "the-prairie-look-meets-the-1962-shirtdress" thing that really stood out to me. There's something about all the little details encompassed in the design that make the dress as a whole very pleasing.

There's a lot to think about when you're standing on a roof, trying (and failing) to look photogenic:

Luckily, life calmed down for me today, so now I can turn my attention to the next big thing: one of my best friends comes to visit me tomorrow! I know, it snuck up on me too. I'm really looking forward to leaving work early on Friday and spending an entire weekend eating, drinking, and generally bumming around. Also, Breaking Bad! Sunday night! Final season! I'm not lying when I say that my friend and I planned her trip around that premiere...

Have a great Thursday, everyone!

Dress Well: Cream on White

Anthropologie shirt (old), Banana Republic tank (old), AG jeans, Sam Edelman sandals, J. Crew necklace (old), Tory Burch bag, Coach sunglasses

I've come to realize at least one thing in the process of writing posts this summer: my summer clothes are OLD.

These pictures were difficult to come by. Something about the light that morning looked harsh no matter what the setting. So I opted for the strategy that I find myself opting for so often in life: I found a spot in front of a gray wall that was simple and effective. No need to get fancy! Same goes for my outfit. I first paired this shirt and these jeans together on my honeymoon. Something about white on cream at the time seemed to say "Summer in Italy." However, the outfit has served me well here in the U.S. too. The best thing about white jeans? They allow you to feel summery and yet dress appropriately for 65-degree weather.

I am very much looking forward to the weekend - how about you? Between work, mornings at the gym, and evenings spent with my husband staying up later than we should to watch Arrested Development, I am thoroughly tired out. I can't wait for another weekend full of good meals, sleeping in, and lots of snuggling. We're headed back to AQ tonight to try out their summer tasting menu, and on Saturday I am getting a loooooooooong awaited haircut. Nothing drastic, but I can't wait to have my dead, split ends GONE! But enough about my thrilling weekend...what are you guys up to? I hope it's something fun!

Have a great Friday.

Dress Well: Summer Flowers

Zara blouse (old), AG jeans, Sam Edelman sandals, J. Crew bracelet, Tory Burch bag, Coach sunglasses

Okay, so summer is this weird, eternally cold, funky season here in San Francisco. But I'm still trying (with mixed success, admittedly) to channel some summer sun into my clothes. So yesterday, despite the fact that it was chilly, I threw on my favorite Zara paisley blouse with my white jeans. Something about flowers + white just make it feel more like summer, even when your teeth are chattering.

Ever since I started my new job, my weekday life has looked like this: come home from work, eat the dinner that my wonderful husband has prepared for me, write this blog, and watch Breaking Bad. However, last night we finished the last Breaking Bad episode until the new season premieres in August. So I basically have no idea what to do with my life anymore. Any suggestions?
