Dress Well: Add Some Slouch

J. Crew blouse, Madewell jeans (on sale!), Seychelles flats (super old), Madewell necklace, Anthropologie bag (old)

I do not wear these boyfriend jeans enough. Somehow they always drift to the bottom of my jeans pile, only to be recovered if I see someone else wearing boyfriend jeans and think, "oh yeah, I have a pair of those!"

I know when I look back on these pictures in a decade, these jeans will look crazy outdated. I used to think that was a good reason to not wear things, but these days I've changed my mind - especially when things like boyfriend jeans, track pants, and drapey tops come into style, we should all take full advantage. Women's fashion doesn't tend towards comfort, so we should be allowed to walk in the sun in those rare moments when comfortable items are shining their brightest. Who's with me?

DSC_3032I had half a mind to wear these jeans again today - my office is going to go play laser tag, so ease of movement is pretty much my top outfit priority. I haven't played laser tag since I was 12 and I have terrible aim, but I'm still determined to win. I'll let you know how that turns out.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Dress Well: On A Slant

Anthropologie blouse, Old sweater from Nordstrom, J Brand jeans, Chie Mihara wedges, Kendra Scott necklace, Clare Vivier clutch, Ray-Ban sunglasses

This is the first of a few items I snapped up two weekends ago when Anthropologie had a 15% off sale (the psychology of that sale TOTALLY worked on me - I'll admit it). No surprises that I love this shirt - it's a short-sleeved, silk, patterned shirt, which I seem to be collecting these days (see here, here, and here for further evidence). Predictable or not, it ended up being the perfect thing to wear to our Saturday night dinner at The Slanted Door (and I didn't get any food on it - a real accomplishment!).

Speaking of The Slanted Door - having my siblings in town this past weekend was absolutely fantastic. I haven't had a weekend that fun in a long, long time (and all of my weekends are fun!). I miss them like crazy already and can't wait for them to come back. The only good thing about them leaving, though, is it brings me one day closer to my sister and her fiancé coming to visit - they land in SF this Friday! So the good times will certainly continue.

If you're interested in the places we visited and what we ate while they were here, see the end of this post!

DSC_1918Siblings' visit itinerary:

We kicked things off with a VERY long walk around town and a stop at Smitten ice cream.

Thursday dinner: Zero Zero

Friday morning CrossFit workout

Friday brunch: Brenda's French Soul Food

Drove to China Beach, then hiked Land's End

Ice Cream at Bi-Rite Divisadero + walked to Alamo Square Park

Friday dinner: Zuni Café (the whole dinner was fantastic, but the oysters were A-MAZ-ING)

Saturday morning CrossFit

Saturday brunch: Park Tavern (GET THE PANCAKES - that's an order)

Drove through the Marin Headlands and hiked out to the Point Bonita lighthouse, then drove to Sausalito and got ice cream at Lappert's

Saturday dinner: The Slanted Door

Sunday brunch: Kitchen Story

Have a great Monday, friends - Memorial Day is almost upon us!

Dress Well: I Will Always Love You

Super old sweater via Nordstrom, J. Crew shirt (old), J Brand jeans, Rag&Bone booties, Madewell necklace, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Ray-Ban sunglasses

If I had to pick a theme song for this outfit, it would be "I Will Always Love You." I adore every single piece in this ensemble and will undoubtedly wear each piece repeatedly for years to come.

I got this sweater thingy in the B.P. section of Nordstrom years ago - it used to be my favorite thing to wear during college when I would fly to see my then-boyfriend (now husband) out here in California. I love it to this day, although I don't wear it enough. I'm glad it finally occurred to me to pair it with my J. Crew striped shirt, which y'all know I will wear until the day it finally says "enough!" and disintegrates into dust because it's tired of how frequently I wear it.

Also, just in case you were under the impression that I am always perfectly photogenic, I'd like to submit this gem from this same photoshoot:

I have no idea what possessed me to make that face.

I can't believe I haven't mentioned this yet, but TOMORROW I will be flying to Boston to go see one of my very best friends in this whole wide world! I've never been to Boston before - I haven't even been to the east coast since I went and visited this same friend in New York over two years ago. After a few crazy-busy weeks, a long weekend of sightseeing, eating, and laying around on her couch is just what the doctor ordered. You'll have to forgive me if my blogging slips a bit as a result!

Have a great Wednesday, friends.

Dress well: Emerald City

J. Crew blouse, J. Crew leggings, Steve Madden flats (old), TEXI leather bag, Coach sunglasses (old)

I'll be honest - I'm not overly impressed with how this shirt photographed. It's beautiful in person - the heavy crepe material is really nice and it's a really lovely shade of green. I sized up because I liked the idea of it being a little large and drapey, but that seems to have resulted in it looking less than stellar in pictures. Oh well. I will still be wearing it repeatedly this winter - the weight is perfect for colder weather, and the length makes it a perfect match for my J. Crew leggings.

Isn't getting through Monday always such a relief? Even though I tend to wind up enjoying my Mondays at work, there's still something so nice about putting the first day back behind you. Now I'm ready to dive into my weekly routine - gym, work, dinner, sleep, repeat!

Have a great day.
