Dress Well: Love for Denim

Madewell chambray shirt, Paige Denim jeans, Chie Mihara wedges, J. Crew bracelet (old), Anthropologie bag (old), Ray-Ban sunglasses

This isn't one of my most inventive outfits, but it's easily one of my favorites in recent memory - which would explain why I've worn it twice in three days. When you put together a great outfit over the weekend, why not trot it back out on Monday?

You'll also notice that, for once, I'm not wearing my hair down and straight. When your hair is as slippery and prone to wispiness as mine, it's hard to throw together any hairstyle that looks half-decent. However, when faced with circumstances that called upon me to rise above my normal course of action - in this case, going out for barbecue and needing my hair out of my face - I somehow managed to summon some creativity and braid my hair. I know - revolutionary. And it only fell apart twice. See the end of this post for a closer look!

DSC_3236Not sure why my hair looks red in this picture - although I kind of like it!

I wish I had something interesting about my life to add here, but almost all of my leisure time has gone towards watching Orange is the New Black - so if you want to hear about anything else, you're out of luck. Hopefully I'll be interesting again (was I interesting in the first place?) in about a week or so.

Happy Tuesday.

Dress Well: Summery Thoughts

Madewell shirt, Madewell jeans, Zara heels, J. Crew bracelet (old), Coach sunglasses (old)

If we can't have summery weather here in San Francisco, the best we can do is to think summery thoughts. This outfit is like the "summery thoughts" team uniform - with florals and/or neons covering every inch, I feel like it should be standard-issue wear for everyone's favorite season (oh wait, that's fall).

After back-to-back busy weekends and spending a week fighting to stay healthy (my husband has a bad cold) we are looking forward to doing exactly NOTHING this weekend. (I know, that's not the first time you've heard me say that.) We just started watching Scandal (I know! So late to the party!) so something tells me a fair portion of this weekend will be dedicated to polishing off a few more episodes. Other than that I'm hoping for at least one long walk around my favorite city and at least one good meal out...as always, you'll hear my report on Monday!

Have a great weekend.

Dress Well: Hunting for the Heart

Madewell sweater (sold out, last seen here), Citizens of Humanity jeans, Kendra Scott necklace, Kendra Scott ring (old, love this one), Steve Madden flats (very similar), Coach sunglasses

Most Sundays I wear my Lululemon workout clothes from the minute I wake up until the minute I go to sleep. They serve me well for morning walks, grocery shopping, and cleaning the apartment, so I usually have no reason to take them off. However, every once in awhile I decide that my husband deserves to see me in something better than stretchy clothes, no makeup, and a messy bun on God's day. So this is what I threw on last night, even though our only plans were to make homemade pizza and watch a recorded episode of SNL.

Are you getting tired of me posting pictures of this view yet? Good, because I'm not.

Did everyone have a good weekend? My weekend consisted of sleeping in, sweating through a somewhat intense yoga class (it was like it was raining from my face - disgusting), spending way too much money at Madewell (a sneak peek at that tomorrow!), a dinner date with my husband, a long walk, and an assortment of errands. How does the weekend always go by so quickly?

In other news, today is my brother's 21st birthday! Happy birthday, Stevie - I can't wait to celebrate (belatedly) when I'm home in three weeks!

Dress Well: Valentine's Day

J. Crew sweater, J. Crew tank. AG jeans (similar), J. Crew bracelet, J. Crew bangles, Old necklace, Anthropologie mug

I don't know about you, but I'm not a big fan of going out on Valentine's Day. There's just something about sitting in a restaurant with a bunch of other couples, all eating the same tasting menu, surrounded by a manufactured "romantic" setting that just seems vaguely twilight-zone-ish to me. Instead, I prefer to stay home, cook dinner with my husband, and lounge around in comfortable clothes. So, baggy jeans and an appropriately-themed sweater are what I'll be wearing for my big Valentine's date - perfect for eating homemade pizza and watching a movie, right?

DSC_1633Have a wonderful Valentine's Day, however you choose to celebrate it.
