Dress Well: No Effort

J. Crew shirt (on sale!), Paige Denim jeans, Rebecca Minkoff sandals (old), Madewell necklace, Anthropologie bag, Ray-Ban sunglasses

Well friends, this is about as authentic as it gets - I'm not lying when I say that next to no effort was put into this outfit. We took these pictures while walking to the neighborhood corner store - I ran out of ingredients as I was baking a second batch of cookies for my co-workers. You can tell by the uneven makeup and messy hair that I spent most of yesterday working in the kitchen, and very little of yesterday worrying how I looked. It may not be a terribly inspirational look, but I promise it's an authentic one!

DSC_4452We had a nice, quiet, borderline-boring weekend, which is exactly what I needed. It involved a LOT of baking, a crazy-hard Crossfit workout ("Schmalls," for the three people who read this blog who know what that is), getting my nails done, and wine and cheese on our rooftop deck.

Also - I owe you all a very late "thank you" for all your kind words on our anniversary! The texts, emails, Facebook posts, and blog comments were all so, so appreciated.

Have a wonderful Monday, everyone!

Dress Well: Bejeweled

Topshop top via Nordstrom (old), J. Crew white jeans, Sam Edelman sandals, J. Crew necklace (old), J. Crew bangle, Anthropologie bag, Ray-Ban sunglasses

Is it just me, or did the peplum trend totally disappear? I haven't seen a new peplum item in a store or online in quite some time. How quickly these things come and go.

Maybe peplum is gone from stores, but it's certainly still got a place in my closet. I bought this top last year and I will be wearing it for a few more years to come at least. I love the color, it makes me feel like my arms are awesome, and it plays nicely with big necklaces - win, win, win.

I also just can't get enough of this old Anthropologie bag these days. If you had told me on the day that I got it that I would someday be wearing it while living in San Francisco and taking photos for my fashion blog, I would have told you you were out of your mind. I guess clothing trends aren't the only things that make dramatic changes in the course of a few years.

DSC_3475At this point in the week, I'm about ready to go into hibernation. Wake me up when it's Friday, won't you?

Dress Well: Found in Nature

J. Crew blouse, J. Crew jeans, Chie Mihara wedges, Kendra Scott necklace (old), Anthropologie bag (old), Ray-Ban sunglasses

I bought this blouse at J. Crew back when I bought these jeans, but somehow it hasn't made an appearance on the blog until today. Regardless, it's become my go-to summer shirt - light, machine washable (for when I inevitably spill ice cream on it), and a good match for white jeans (minus the ice cream thing). And I love it with my orange Anthro bag - I think the combo is just the right amount of "earth mother."

DSC_2477I would write more, but all my extra time is being dedicated to Orphan Black these days - have you seen it? At the pace my husband and I are tearing through the show, I'm pretty sure we'll have finished it by the time Orange is the New Black makes its season two debut on June 6th. Does that make it sound like my home life revolves around TV? Because it kind of does these days. At least it's quality programming, right?

Have an amazing Wednesday! (Seriously, four-day weeks are the best.)

Dress Well: Fall Wish List

Zara sweater, Madewell coated jeans, 3.1 Phillip Lim bag, J. Crew socks, Sam Edelman boots

I'm embarrassingly proud of this collage.

Welcome to the uniform I plan to be wearing for the next six months. Okay, am dreaming about wearing - it'll take me quite awhile to save up for that bag. Even though we've officially entered San Francisco's "summer," all I can think about lately is big, cozy sweaters, coated jeans, and finding a good way to wear cute socks. Isn't fall just the best?

I wish I had something fun to report about my week here...but y'all, my life is awfully tame. We had a great dinner at Rich Table on Tuesday night, but other than that it has been (almost) all work and a tiny bit of play. I'm really looking forward to the weekend - this week has been exhausting so far, so I'm counting down to sleeping in, spending time with friends, and just enjoying another wonderful weekend in this beautiful place. We'll get there soon enough, right?

Have a great day.
