Dress Well: Second Day Everything

I wore this outfit on Friday, and then I wore it again on Sunday. That's pretty much my go-to move when it comes to clothes: find a look you like, and then repeat it ad infinitum (which explains why EVERYTHING on this blog is jeans/leggings + a blouse). I doubled down on the second-day look by not washing my hair--a very rare choice for me.

Well friends, it was an eventful but productive week--the perfect kind of week to cap off with a three-day weekend. We've got some super low-key Valentine's Day plans (you've already heard about how much I hate Valentine's) that should be perfect for the Grinch who's writing this.

Which reminds me: if you're looking for a movie to watch on Valentine's Day, watch Before Sunrise! It's the absolute best choice of romantic movie you could possibly make (unless you're watching its sequel).

Have a great weekend.

Dress Well: Pattern Play

Kohl's blouse, J. Crew jeans, Rag&Bone booties, Anthropologie cuff (old), Anthropologie bag (old), Ray-Ban sunglasses

There's something about this outfit that I just couldn't resist.

I've always been weirdly organized when it comes to color - everything in my life, from my closet to my food to my school folders, has always had its own color-coding system to it. Also, for me, colors have an order like numbers. Maybe that sounds crazy, but it's how it is in my head (the proper order is white, yellow, orange, pink, red, green, blue, purple, gray, brown, black, in case you were wondering).

When faced with the opportunity to make organizing colors the centerpiece of how I dressed, I clearly couldn't help but jump at it. Against all the black and white, turquoise and orange offer a nice change of pace, don't you think?

DSC_2119We're so close to Memorial Day weekend I can taste it! (It tastes like ice cream, obviously.) Have a wonderful Thursday.

Dress Well: Blank Slate

It's funny - even though this is a striped dress, it's become the blank slate upon which I layer some of my favorite items in my wardrobe. It looks great with all my necklaces, and it also looks great with sandals, booties, heels - you name it.

Speaking of shoes - how AMAZING are these Chie Mihara wedges? I LOVE them. I'd been in the market for some wedges for quite some time when I came across these online. They had everything I wanted - a low heel, nude coloring, the promise of being comfortable - but I found the price a bit too steep to pull the trigger on (I mean - $355? Too much).

I'd been looking at them on the Shopbop website, but on a whim decided to plug the shoes' name into Google. And you know what I found? These shoes for $100 cheaper at Lord & Taylor PLUS an additional 20% off in a promotion they were running. Let's just say that the speed at which I whipped out my credit card could have qualified me for a World Record. They were still a big purchase, but you'll be seeing these puppies on my feet for YEARS - I guarantee it.

T minus two days until my brother and sister get to town and my Whole 30 is over! I love it when you know your week's going to be good. Enjoy your Tuesday, and I'll see you back here tomorrow.

Dress Well: New Today, Worn Tomorrow

Oh, the irony.

Remember the girl that was going on and on on Tuesday about how she's really cut back on buying clothes? Yeah, that was me. And do you see the girl standing before you in a brand new dress? Yeah, that's me too.

In my defense, this dress looks, feels, and fits like it's a Madewell dress, but it easily cost half of what I would typically pay there. I have a hunch that you'll be seeing this dress many, many more times. Does that help distract from the hypocrisy?

Is anyone watching the new TV series Fargo? My husband and I watched the first episode last night - so far, I'm impressed. Oddly enough, my J. Crew owl shirt made an appearance in the episode - that shirt is quite the rising star!

Oh my goodness it's FRIDAY! I'm so excited. Last weekend was incredibly lazy - this one may be even more so. We truly have zero plans - all I want to do is read on our roof, sleep in, and maybe, MAYBE catch a workout or two. We'll see about that last one.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend - see you back here on Monday.
