Dress Well: Lace + Boots

DSC_6608Anthropologie sweater, J. Crew leggings, Lucchese boots (literally a decade old), J. Crew necklace (similar-ish), Michael Kors watch (old), Rebecca Minkoff bag

I have excellent news: this sweater is still available! I was nervous, because I bought it two months ago on Black Friday. How have they not sold out of these babies yet? The world may never know.

I think this sweater is one of my favorite pieces of clothing I've ever owned. You know how you have a few clothing items in your life that you form an unreasonably strong attachment to? (I hope other people experience that.) This sweater has the makings of reaching that echelon of all-star pieces for me. Now I've just got to do my best to not get food on it.

DSC_6715I'm happy to report that I had an unusually social Thursday night, starting with happy hour drinks with my friends from my Bank of America days in San Francisco, followed by dinner at R&G Lounge, which is where we used to eat when working late at BofA. (If you're ever visiting SF, R&G is a great place to add to your itinerary - it's in Chinatown and the food is delicious. Anthony Bourdain even featured it on his show!) I then got over eight hours of sleep (which is a massive amount for me) so I think I'm ready to start Friday on a good foot!

Does everyone have big plans for Super Bowl Sunday? We'll be hosting a little party here at our apartment, which is the first time I have ever hosted a Super Bowl party. I'm not exactly sure how we're going to make sure everyone can see the TV (our space is tiny), so I'm planning on distracting everyone from the cozy quarters with lots of queso. I figure that strategy has a history of success - the queso distraction is how they get away with such tiny tables in Mexican restaurants, right?

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend, everyone.

Dress Well: Three Year Flashback

Anthropologie shirt (old), J. Crew jeans, Chie Mihara wedges (on sale!), J. Crew necklace (old), Anthropologie bag (old), Ray-Ban sunglasses (red version)

Here's a fun piece of trivia - it's my wedding anniversary tomorrow! In honor of that, I thought it would be appropriate to wear an outfit that made its first ever appearance on my honeymoon three years ago.

I went on a major shopping spree at Anthropologie shortly before we got married and headed to Italy, and this shirt was one of my purchases, along with my old pair of white jeans. I still remember how much fun it was to plan out each of my honeymoon outfits, and how much I enjoyed pairing white and white together in this outfit (I think every bride-to-be develops a strange obsession with wearing white). As a result, this outfit will be forever associated with Florence in my mind. Which is really the best association to have, isn't it?

It didn't even occur to me until I was typing out this post that this outfit is doubly appropriate for a wedding flashback post because it's all white. Obvious answer is obvious. To everyone except me, apparently.

DSC_4305Have a great day - see you back here tomorrow for some wedding anniversary celebration!

Dress Well: Lace it Up

Anthropologie dress, Rocket Dog booties, Madewell necklace, Anthropologie bag (old)

A fun brunch at Cotogna over the weekend gave me a good excuse to bust out this white and lace Anthropologie dress. (The slightly warmer weather was an important part, too.) This sweet octopus graffiti by the restaurant gave me a good excuse to bust out the camera. The combination of the two gave me a good excuse to put the whole thing on the blog!

DSC_7155Did everyone have a good President's Day weekend? (Apologies to those of you who didn't get the day off - I had to work on MLK, so I totally feel your pain.) We had a great long weekend, full of fun times with friends, great meals, lots of time spent in the sun, and even finishing a few projects around the house. I felt like I was snapping pictures of the fun things we did all weekend - I'm sure you'll be seeing those trickle out on Instagram throughout this week!

Have a wonderful TUESDAY (nothing better than a four-day work week, right?)!

Dress Well: Touches of Gold

Anthropologie cardigan (old), J. Crew tank, Paige jeans, Old necklace (love this whistle one), J. Crew bracelet, Sam Edelman sandals, Tory Burch bag, Coach sunglasses (similar)

Do you have a piece of clothing that you absolutely love, and will absolutely love forever? For me, that piece of clothing is this sweater. It's essentially everything I love all in one place - navy blue, stripes, lace, touches of gold...remember what I said about Anthropologie getting this shirt exactly right? Clearly their mastery of striped items didn't end there. That shirt and this sweater will live happily ever after together in my closet, and I couldn't be happier about it!

Also, you might notice that my hair isn't straight in these pictures (for once). To get it to look wavy, I took a shower the night before, put some mousse in my hair, braided it into four braids, and slept on it. It worked really well - I think I'll be subbing that technique into my regular routine!

DSC_1865Man, there's nothing like a four-day work week to really take it out of you, right? One of my friends laughed at me when I said I would likely be in bed by 10:00 tonight, but let me tell you - that was no joke. Can you believe how exciting my life is? Because I hardly can...

Have a wonderful weekend!
