Live Well: ...At The French Laundry!

Sorry friends - The French Laundry calls today! Well, more like I called The French Laundry 400+ times to get a reservation. But who's counting, right? Right now my parents, husband, sister and I are on our way up to Napa, ready for the meal of our lives! I had the honor of getting to dine at The French Laundry last summer as well, and I can hardly believe how blessed I am to get to go again. I kept my menu from the meal last summer - you had better believe I will be keeping my menu from this trip as well, and that both beautiful menus will soon be hanging on our apartment wall!

Since today is clearly such a happy day, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to share a few of the things that have been making me happy this week. I hope you have a wonderful Friday - to health and happiness (and gluttony, too)! DSC_2526

New manicures.

Farmer's market sunflowers - usually not my thing, but I can't get over how great the yellow looks with our gray-tone apartment.

Getting a shipment of 100 books from my dad. I can't wait to devour each and every one of them (and they gave me a great excuse to rearrange my bookshelves!).

Farmer's market cherries.

Live Well: 1/12/13 Weekend Recap

This weekend I...

Spent Friday night out with coworkers (pictured above), significant others, and friends. It was my first time at Cha Cha Cha and I loved it!

Admired my neighborhood, like I always do on weekends.

Got a sweet new manicure. I was never the kind of girl who got her nails done until I realized 1) it only costs $10 at my nail salon, 2) it greatly reduces my incidence of hangnails, and 3) you can do fun things, like paint one finger a different color. Here I've got on OPI's Modern Girl and Berlin There Done That (a stocking stuffer from my mother-in-law!).

Ate popcorn for dinner on Saturday and continued my Oscar-nominated moviegoing by seeing Silver Linings Playbook. It was sweet, heartwarming, and funny, but I will be very confused if it takes home Best Picture at the Oscars.

Also, the sentence above makes it sound like my moviegoing is what is Oscar-nominated, which is making me laugh, so I'm not changing it and am instead pointing it out so you can laugh too.

Cleaned out and reorganized my closet. Since we only have one closet in this apartment, it's pretty necessary to do at least twice a year.

DSC_0141Worked on some new outfit posts for the blog. More on the above coming very soon to a computer screen near you!

I don't know about you, but I spent allllllllllll day yesterday engaged in the two NFL playoff games, the Golden Globes, and the new Downton Abbey episode. AND I didn't even get around to watching the Season 3 premiere of Shameless! Thank goodness for this blog - if it weren't for my need to take pictures to put on here, I wouldn't have stepped foot outside yesterday. Here's hoping that the impending endings of football season and awards season will bring me back to weekend runs and constructive hobbies like reading. Until then, I will {still} be laughing about Amy Poehler's Golden Globes "Life of Pi" joke. I wish we were friends.

Have a great Monday!
