Dress Well: Three Year Flashback

Anthropologie shirt (old), J. Crew jeans, Chie Mihara wedges (on sale!), J. Crew necklace (old), Anthropologie bag (old), Ray-Ban sunglasses (red version)

Here's a fun piece of trivia - it's my wedding anniversary tomorrow! In honor of that, I thought it would be appropriate to wear an outfit that made its first ever appearance on my honeymoon three years ago.

I went on a major shopping spree at Anthropologie shortly before we got married and headed to Italy, and this shirt was one of my purchases, along with my old pair of white jeans. I still remember how much fun it was to plan out each of my honeymoon outfits, and how much I enjoyed pairing white and white together in this outfit (I think every bride-to-be develops a strange obsession with wearing white). As a result, this outfit will be forever associated with Florence in my mind. Which is really the best association to have, isn't it?

It didn't even occur to me until I was typing out this post that this outfit is doubly appropriate for a wedding flashback post because it's all white. Obvious answer is obvious. To everyone except me, apparently.

Dress Well: Add Some Slouch

J. Crew blouse, Madewell jeans (on sale!), Seychelles flats (super old), Madewell necklace, Anthropologie bag (old)

I do not wear these boyfriend jeans enough. Somehow they always drift to the bottom of my jeans pile, only to be recovered if I see someone else wearing boyfriend jeans and think, "oh yeah, I have a pair of those!"

I know when I look back on these pictures in a decade, these jeans will look crazy outdated. I used to think that was a good reason to not wear things, but these days I've changed my mind - especially when things like boyfriend jeans, track pants, and drapey tops come into style, we should all take full advantage. Women's fashion doesn't tend towards comfort, so we should be allowed to walk in the sun in those rare moments when comfortable items are shining their brightest. Who's with me?

DSC_3032I had half a mind to wear these jeans again today - my office is going to go play laser tag, so ease of movement is pretty much my top outfit priority. I haven't played laser tag since I was 12 and I have terrible aim, but I'm still determined to win. I'll let you know how that turns out.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Dress Well: Onesie Love

Anthropologie romper, Zara heels (similar), J. Crew jaguar bracelet (old), J. Crew pavé bracelet, Anthropologie bag (old), Ray-Ban sunglasses

I know I'm allowed to call this outfit a "romper," but in my mind it will always be a onesie. I'm fully of the opinion that it deserves a childish name - I cannot understate how comfortable it is. Wearing this onesie is like wearing baby clothes or pajamas all day, albeit with heels. But that's a small sacrifice to make for the ridiculous amount of comfort this outfit affords.

DSC_2498After just a few times wearing this onesie, I'm strongly considering investing in some of the other rompers Anthropologie is currently selling on its website. I know these babies won't be in style forever, so I feel like we need to take advantage while we can - women's fashion tends far too much towards restriction and discomfort. So let's live it up in all-cotton onesies while the option's still available, shall we? I know you won't regret it.

Have a wonderful, one-of-a-kind weekend.

Dress Well: Found in Nature

J. Crew blouse, J. Crew jeans, Chie Mihara wedges, Kendra Scott necklace (old), Anthropologie bag (old), Ray-Ban sunglasses

I bought this blouse at J. Crew back when I bought these jeans, but somehow it hasn't made an appearance on the blog until today. Regardless, it's become my go-to summer shirt - light, machine washable (for when I inevitably spill ice cream on it), and a good match for white jeans (minus the ice cream thing). And I love it with my orange Anthro bag - I think the combo is just the right amount of "earth mother."

DSC_2477I would write more, but all my extra time is being dedicated to Orphan Black these days - have you seen it? At the pace my husband and I are tearing through the show, I'm pretty sure we'll have finished it by the time Orange is the New Black makes its season two debut on June 6th. Does that make it sound like my home life revolves around TV? Because it kind of does these days. At least it's quality programming, right?

Have an amazing Wednesday! (Seriously, four-day weeks are the best.)
