Dress Well: Sunday Dinners

Y'all - it was WARM this weekend. It was warm and sunny enough this past weekend to cause me to get sunburned in all kinds of weird patterns - on my wrists (???), on my shoulders, on the tip of my nose, on my knees. Being exposed to that kind of sun is so rare for us San Francisco dwellers that I almost feel like I spent the past two days on a beach vacation - I mean, there was no swimming, and no bathing suits, but....it was close enough.

DSC_5146There were multiple moments this past weekend where I stopped, looked around, and dedicated a few seconds to thinking, "does it GET any better than this?" The first time was when I was reading up on my roof on Saturday afternoon - the sun was shining, the temperature was perfect, and I had a beautiful panorama view of San Francisco. Seriously - what's better than that? The second time I had that same thought, I was running the Lyon Street steps, getting to the top, basking in the breezy 75 degree weather, and looking out over the San Francisco Bay.

When I wasn't admiring my surroundings, I was enjoying time, meals, and laughs with my husband or friends. It was truly a weekend for the record books - low-stress, high happiness, and gorgeous in every minute. How did I get so lucky?

Hopefully you had a similarly wonderful weekend. 'Til the next one...

It's official: I think you guys have seen every piece of clothing that I own. These days, I look in my closet and find a complete lack of inspiration. And for that reason, you'll have to forgive me when my outfits seem very repetitive. I just can't afford new clothes every week, you know?

There's one other thing I have to admit to: I currently have a terrible yoga crops tan. Like I wore yoga crops to read on my rooftop deck, and ended up with a tan where it looks like I'm constantly wearing socks. I won't be baring my legs again until it evens back up...and that could take a few months. Awkward tan lines are kind of my forte.

DSC_4945Despite my lack of new clothes and my terrible yoga crops tan, we still had a fantastic weekend. We had friends in town from Texas and had the greatest time hanging out, getting dinner, and catching up with the people we love. Also, after MONTHS of anticipation, we finally got to go see Boyhood, which I will be writing more about tomorrow (spoiler alert: we LOVED it). All in all, we were reminded yet again that we lead a wonderful life. I hope you felt similarly this past weekend.

See you back here tomorrow. Have a great day.

Dress Well: The Run Around

Madewell chambray shirt (old), Paige Denim jeans, Converse Chuck Taylors, TEXI leather bag, Ray-Ban sunglasses

Yesterday I had to do a couple of store visits for work, so I took that as an excellent opportunity to break out some of my more casual clothes. My Chuck Taylors haven't been getting much love lately (after all, my Chie Mihara wedges have pretty much become the equivalent of a dictator among my shoes - no other shoes will be tolerated!) and yesterday seemed like the perfect opportunity to pull them out again. Let them know I hadn't forgotten about them.

Also, for all of you who don't live in the Bay Area - this is what I wore to work (after the store visits). And I wasn't underdressed (at least, I don't think I was). Sometimes I forget how crazy "professional" standards are around here...but you won't hear me complaining about get to flex a few more creativity muscles where my wardrobe is concerned. When I worked at the bank, all of my outfits incorporated one of three pencil skirts. Things got repetitive fast.

DSC_4824My obsession of the day (and probably week, possibly month): Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud. Am I totally behind the times? I'm not exactly up to date on the music scene. But I heard this song on Songza on Tuesday and have been completely enamored ever since. It's my new antidote for a bad day or a stressful situation - seriously, who can feel down during that chorus?

Have a wonderful day, everyone.

We dashed outside to get these photos right before the sun went down - we're still settling into our new schedule with my husband's new job. You can tell these photos were taken at the end of the day, not so much by the light, but primarily by my face. Somehow my makeup melted off in the ten hours I was at work - I used to have mascara on, I swear. And at least somewhat healthy-looking skin. And lips that didn't blend into my face. Note to self - makeup refresh needed for night photos.

DSC_4650The one defense I can offer for my walking dead look is the fact that it was a very productive Monday. I managed to cross a bunch of items off my list at work, and I felt great doing it because I LOVE this outfit (which is why you've seen a thousand iterations of it on the blog). Here's hoping the rest of the week follows suit.

Have a great Tuesday.
