Dress Well: Same Outfit, Different Year

Madewell shirt (old), J Brand jeans, Madewell booties (old), Anthropologie bracelet (old), TEXI leather bag

It was completely unintentional that I wore my two favorite Madewell spring shirts in back-to-back posts. It's funny - I bought both of these shirts one year ago and am very happy that I love them as much now as I did then. This year I've been trying to focus on cutting back on the amount of shopping I do, a goal that's made so much easier when you love the clothes you already have. It just means that you guys will have to put up with repeat outfits!

You know one place where I won't be able to wear these sleeveless shirts? Milwaukee. (That's not just a random statement - I'm headed that way today!) Midwesterners - how do y'all make it through winter...and fall...and spring? I truly don't understand. It was 50 degrees in San Francisco this weekend and I thought I was going to get frostbite.

But enough complaining from me - see you on the other side of my midwestern mini-trip!

Dress Well: Black and White and Read All Over

Madewell blouse, Citizens of Humanity jeans, Rag & Bone booties, Anthropologie cuff (old), TEXI leather bag, Coach sunglasses (old)

When I tried on this shirt at Madewell this past Saturday, I stood in front of the dressing room mirror for a long time wondering, "is this too sheer?" "Will I ever be able to wear it anywhere?" Soon after that, I woke up and realized, hey, I'm 24 and now's the time to seize the day. You can't wear stuff like this forever - why pass it up while you still have the chance?

In writing this blog, I often think about what it means to dress my age. The nice thing about being my current age is it's hard to dress too young - short of mimicking Baby Spice every day, I firmly believe that when you're 24 the overall feel of your wardrobe should be young and fresh. Which doesn't mean midriff and graphic tees and Converse all day, every day (I seem to be on a '90s kick today). What it does mean is pushing the envelope when it feels appropriate. And what could possibly be inappropriate about your shirt being sheer?

I also feel like these pictures don't do this beautiful shirt justice - go see it for yourself in stores if you have the chance.

After yet another fun and crazy weekend (which included dinners with friends, movie marathons until 2AM, taking the reigns on shopkick's social channels for one post, getting our ridiculously dirty car washed, and Breaking Bad + the Emmy's), I'm hopefully ready to launch into yet another crazy week. I've got social events galore this week (which never happens) PLUS my husband and I are flying to Seattle on Thursday night to go vacation with my parents in that city for a few days! Fitting five days' worth of work into four is always a challenge, but I have a feeling it's a challenge I'll be more than happy to face.

Have a great Monday, friends!
