Is it just me, or did the peplum trend totally disappear? I haven't seen a new peplum item in a store or online in quite some time. How quickly these things come and go.

Maybe peplum is gone from stores, but it's certainly still got a place in my closet. I bought this top last year and I will be wearing it for a few more years to come at least. I love the color, it makes me feel like my arms are awesome, and it plays nicely with big necklaces - win, win, win.

I also just can't get enough of this old Anthropologie bag these days. If you had told me on the day that I got it that I would someday be wearing it while living in San Francisco and taking photos for my fashion blog, I would have told you you were out of your mind. I guess clothing trends aren't the only things that make dramatic changes in the course of a few years.

After a long, cold, summer, San Francisco has finally graced us with a couple weeks of glorious, glorious fall. Except our fall is kind of like your summer. Just 20 degrees cooler.

I wore this sleeveless peplum top around town yesterday (I was in the city for a doctor's appointment) and soaked up every second of sunshiny goodness that I could. I know someday November, with its 50-degree temps and biting winds, will roll back around, but for now I plan on doing nothing short of basking in fall's golden glow.

We're on the downhill slope now - it's almost the weekend! Have a great Thursday.

Dress Well: Perfect Peplum

Topshop top (via Nordstrom), AG Jeans, Steve Madden flats, Tory Burch bag, Michael Kors watch, Old necklace

Peplum was made for girls like me.

I do not have a great waist to hip ratio. If I want to fool people into thinking I have a small waist and anything other than nonexistent hips, my clothes have to do the work. Of everything I've tried, peplum does this the absolute best. I love how the peplum shape creates an optical illusion that doesn't require belting your waist so tight you can't eat (much less breathe!) while you wear that outfit. This stretchy (and cheap!) Topshop peplum top paired with boyfriend jeans ended up making the perfect Thanksgiving outfit, giving me plenty of flexibility to eat, drink, and laugh to my heart and my stomach's content.

Yes, you're right - you have seen this picture before.

DSC_6759Word to the wise: if you want to order this top, go two sizes up from what you usually wear. Topshop's sizes are done on the British system, so while I usually wear a 2 in tops in America, the 6 in this top fit me perfectly.

Today my wonderful, insanely intelligent, beautiful, funny sister lands in San Francisco for a whirlwind weekend visit! I can't wait to see her. She may be nineteen months younger, but I have always been in awe of her quick wit, eye for style, and crazy cooking talent. I promise I will have pictures next week documenting her time here! Until then, have a great weekend.
