Dress Well: Have I Worn This Before?

Monday morning means reaching for the nearest thing in my closet and hoping I haven't worn it too frequently before. I was about 95% convinced that I'd worn this outfit on the blog before, but after a quick survey I think I was wrong (I think). Regardless, you can see why I thought it had already made an appearance here on the interwebs - the frequency with which I wear this necklace, blouse, jeans, and shoes makes it a statistical improbability that all four items hadn't converged into one outfit previous to its appearance today.

Ultimately, I got to wear a bunch of my favorite items on a Monday and didn't completely replicate an earlier blog post - I'm going to go ahead and call that a win.

DSC_4062You'll have to forgive me for failing to post yesterday - I spent most of my weekend wearing pajamas, taking naps, doing chores, and generally hanging around in un-glamorous outfits. Maybe I should do a "typical weekend" post sometime soon - it'd just be a montage of me in old t-shirts and yoga crops doing exciting things like taking the trash out and napping on my couch. It wouldn't be pretty, but it would be authentic.

Have a great day - see you back here tomorrow!

There's something about this outfit that I just couldn't resist.

I've always been weirdly organized when it comes to color - everything in my life, from my closet to my food to my school folders, has always had its own color-coding system to it. Also, for me, colors have an order like numbers. Maybe that sounds crazy, but it's how it is in my head (the proper order is white, yellow, orange, pink, red, green, blue, purple, gray, brown, black, in case you were wondering).

When faced with the opportunity to make organizing colors the centerpiece of how I dressed, I clearly couldn't help but jump at it. Against all the black and white, turquoise and orange offer a nice change of pace, don't you think?

DSC_2119We're so close to Memorial Day weekend I can taste it! (It tastes like ice cream, obviously.) Have a wonderful Thursday.

Dress Well: Those Summer Nights

Banana Republic blouse (old), J. Crew jeans, Chie Mihara wedges, Anthropologie cuff (old), Anthropologie bag (old), Ray-Ban sunglasses

Confession: I am a HUGE Grease fan. You know, in case you were wondering about the title of this post.

You guys - summer has arrived! It got up to 90 degrees in San Francisco today - if that isn't summer what is? Of course, I could barely sleep last night because it was so warm (we don't do air conditioning in this neck of the woods) but overall I would say that it was worth it, if for nothing else than to get to experience the all-too-rare feeling of walking outside and having my first thought NOT be "man, I could really use a jacket."

The unseasonably warm weather gave me a great reason to pull this old-but-good blouse out of my closet. Also, didn't I tell you I was going to be living in these wedges?

From the files of "bizarre things that make me smile": yesterday was definitely an interesting day for driving. On my way home from work, I pulled onto the freeway next to a guy who was playing a trumpet...while driving. Like, left hand on the steering wheel, right hand on the trumpet. It was wild. What was even better, though, was the electronic traffic sign I saw on my way into work. I thought it was notifying me of a wreck, but no - it said, "TURN BACK. GODZILLA ATTACK." To whoever programmed that sign - I request the highest of fives.

Rounding out what is already a great week - I got the items I ordered from Anthropologie over the weekend (they had a 15% off sale - I had to) last night! I'm really excited about what I snagged - can't wait to show you guys.

Have a great Wednesday.

Dress Well: New Today, Worn Tomorrow

Oh, the irony.

Remember the girl that was going on and on on Tuesday about how she's really cut back on buying clothes? Yeah, that was me. And do you see the girl standing before you in a brand new dress? Yeah, that's me too.

In my defense, this dress looks, feels, and fits like it's a Madewell dress, but it easily cost half of what I would typically pay there. I have a hunch that you'll be seeing this dress many, many more times. Does that help distract from the hypocrisy?

Is anyone watching the new TV series Fargo? My husband and I watched the first episode last night - so far, I'm impressed. Oddly enough, my J. Crew owl shirt made an appearance in the episode - that shirt is quite the rising star!

Oh my goodness it's FRIDAY! I'm so excited. Last weekend was incredibly lazy - this one may be even more so. We truly have zero plans - all I want to do is read on our roof, sleep in, and maybe, MAYBE catch a workout or two. We'll see about that last one.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend - see you back here on Monday.
