Live Well: Red, White, and Blue (Part 2)

DSC_8737Last Saturday, my husband, some of our friends and I enjoyed a wonderful day at Ram's Gate Winery in Sonoma. The wine was fantastic (both red and white..are the titles of this post and Monday's starting to make sense now?), the food delicious, and the service impeccable. On top of all of that, it was an absolutely perfect day - it was amazing how quickly the hours passed by as we ate, drank, talked, and laughed sitting in the winery's beautiful indoor-outdoor space. I kind of wish I was going back tomorrow (and every Saturday from here on out...) - I can't recommend it highly enough if you're looking for a relaxed, quiet day in Sonoma.

DSC_8733Well, my first week at Shopkick is coming to a close - can you believe it? It flew by so quickly (I think that's the first time I've ever said that about a work week). After five days I think I can definitively say that I love my job...how great is that? I am looking forward to the weekend, though - a weekend filled with long naps and good food with good friends will be the perfect way to top off a great first week.

Have a great Friday (and a great weekend) and I'll see you back here on Monday!

Eat Well: Ristobar

This past Friday we finally cashed in the Ristobar tasting menu vouchers that I purchased on Gilt City a few months back. It was such a good deal - $40 per person for four pasta tastings plus wine pairings! I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience - the service was great and the ambiance was fun. I definitely recommend it if you ever find yourself in the Marina neighborhood of San Francisco!

Close up of the misprint on my menu (because I am five years old).

I love how the "frescoed" ceilings and walls in the restaurant make you feel like you're actually in Italy, if only for a moment.

My husband - "I'll have the cheese plate...for myself." My kind of guy!

Gnochetti + Ravioli

This weekend was fantastic: after six straight weekends of visitors, trips, or work, it was so great to spend an entire weekend just the two of us, hanging out and falling asleep on the couch early. I didn't cook anything, barely cleaned anything, and now have only two and a half days of work to go before I get to head to Texas to see my two wonderful families! This is the good life, I'm sure of it.

Eat Well (and Drink Well): Sonoma Snaps

Two weekends ago I had the pleasure of driving up to Sonoma with my husband and his parents. Although I've only ventured into wine country five or so times, I have to say that based on my experiences thus far, I find Sonoma to be a lot more enjoyable than Napa. Even though I tend to prefer the kinds of wines that are produced in Napa, the gorgeous scenery, low-keyness, and uncrowded nature of Sonoma outweighs my slight preference for Cabernet over Pinot Noir.

How awesome is this bridge?

I was pretty excited to see the Lone Star flying over California.

We visited Arista, Stonestreet, and Chalk Hill wineries while we were in Sonoma. I highly suggest them all!

I had so much fun this past weekend hanging out with my friend. Somewhat unfortunately, the weekend ended on a bit of a rushed note with my friend's flight back to New York being cancelled, her finding this out at about 1AM Sunday morning, and her then booking a new flight to New York that left at 6AM. So obviously we just stayed up until we had to go to the airport watching reruns of the original Charlie's Angels.

Here's hoping that all of you out on the East coast get to enjoy a "hurricane day" that's heavy on being snuggled up on your couch with a book in hand, and light on destructive rain and wind. Stay safe, and have a great week!
