Dress Well: Day Owl

J. Crew vest, J. Crew blouse, Citizens of Humanity jeans, Rag & Bone booties, Michael Kors watch, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Ray-Ban sunglasses

You know, I thought I had worn this shirt on the blog before...but I can't seem to find the post. So maybe I'm imagining things! Regardless of whether or not I've said it before, I LOVE this button-down. The mascot at my alma mater, Rice University, was an owl, so I feel especially spirited any time I don this shirt. What's not to love about being able to show school spirit in a subtle way?

Is there anything better than four-day weeks? I really don't think so. This one flew by, and I'm looking forward to another fun weekend spent with my husband. Hopefully all of you have something fun lined up. I'll see you back here next week!

Dress Well: Check it Out

J. Crew scarf, All Saints leather jacket, J. Crew blouse, Citizens of Humanity jeans, Madewell boots, Rebecca Minkoff bag

This. Scarf. Is. Huge.

And I love it.

It's been freezing in my office lately, so this scarf has been a godsend. Granted, it's never colder than about 45 degrees here (and that's at night) so maybe this scarf is overkill. (Go ahead, roll your eyes at me - I deserve it.) Either way, wearing a scarf that can double as a blanket in a pinch is genius, if I do say so myself. I recommend it for all of y'all that are truly facing cold weather!

DSC_6772I wish I had something interesting from my life lately to insert here...but I totally don't. So I'll save you a few seconds of boredom and just say that I will see you back here tomorrow!

Dress Well: Winter Textures

J. Crew coat, J. Crew sweater, Current/Elliott pants, Rag & Bone booties, Kendra Scott necklace, J. Crew bangle, TEXI leather bag

Now that I'm back from L.A., Thanksgiving is only two weeks away, and I spend all day every day talking about Christmas shopping at work, all I want is for real winter weather to set in. Yesterday I dressed for the weather I wanted, not for the weather I had, and layered on all my favorite winter colors and textures. Aren't camel and oxblood just made to go together? Yeah, I think so too. Plus, these velvet-print Current/Elliott jeans are a winter showstopper no matter what they're paired with. I got a little overheated when I walked out to get lunch (note to self: heavy overcoat NOT needed in 65-degree weather), but I loved reveling in my winter dreams anyway. Now bring on the fire in the fireplace weather!

Dress Well: Velvet and Stripes, and Everything Nice

J. Crew coat, J. Crew blouse (love this version), Current/Elliot velvet jeans, Sam Edelman booties, J. Crew necklace (similar), TEXI leather bag, Coach sunglasses (old)

You know those outfits that just make you feel awesome? That's this outfit for me. I mean, what's not to love? As I've told you guys many times, this is my all-time favorite shirt. Add it to velvet jeans (yes you read that right - velvet) and you have an outfit made in heaven. These pants are one of the best purchases I have ever made - I got them 60% off in Nordstrom's after Christmas sale and have treasured them dearly ever since. Maybe it's dumb to be that attached to pants, but come on...they're velvet!

DSC_2663Stay warm and comfy, my friends.
